How candidates are ranked

Candidates are ranked based on their positions and actions. We track these using “flags.”

Green flags represent positions that support the public good and move things forward. Red flags represent positions or actions that are harmful or against those goals.

Each flag adds or subtracts points from a candidate’s score. Some issues matter more than others, so some flags are worth more points.

The final score is what determines ranking. Candidates with higher scores are ranked higher.

The number of green and red flags is shown for context, but the score is weighted — not all flags count the same. Click on a candidate to see the full list of flags and their scores.
